Your neck should be fairly straight as you sit and lie down, but do not hold your neck stiffly in an effort to maintain the position. This treatment is more long-term than short-term, since good posture is essential to preventing neck cricks from coming back. Lie down on your back or side as you sleep. Do not sleep on your stomach, since doing so twists your neck in awkward positions. Make sure that your pillows are not so high that they cause you to bend your neck, but also make sure that they are not so low that they offer no support. Avoid sitting too long with your head bent down or leaning forward. Take breaks throughout the day to stretch and move around.

As for me this is very important topic to follow. :) :) Place your hands behind your head so your fingers meet in the middle of your neck. Press into the neck with a moderate pressure and hold.
After 30 seconds slowly lower your head as far as you can, then remove the pressure from the muscles but continue holding your head down for another 30 seconds. For best results relax your body first by taking a deep breath and exhaling then remain this relaxed :) :) :) . So optimum importance should be given to body weight. One should opt for balanced diet, regular work out and exercises.

You know it is so unpleasant problem, i know what it is like. over the counter medication can give you a little relief, especially for milder pains. if your neck pain is mild to moderate, and lasts for a short amount of time, then Tylenol, Ibuprofen, or similar medication can help you feel better.
all of these medications help to reduce inflammation, and they also help to manage pain. For severe or ongoing pain, however, you might want to look at a more permanent, longer lasting option. that is the way i followed and it seemed to be really helpful.

I know the first and the quickest cure is a pill.. Possible options include aspirin, ibuprofen, and naproxen. It helps quick and helps to loosen the symptoms.
Also if you ask any doctor, you have to rest a lot in order the pain go away. Lie down on your back several times throughout the day so that your neck has a break from the strain of holding your head up. When you go somewhere, for work for example you have to support your neck. I mean wear a scarf or turtle-neck sweater to provide gentle support throughout the day.
